OSC Event - Astronomy Festival on 2nd September 2016

Friday evening (6.30pm - 11pm) FREE opening lecture 7.30pm Ian Ridpath

We are very pleased to welcome Ian Ridpath back to the Centre.

Ian is an award-winning author, broadcaster and lecturer on astronomy and space with over 40 book titles to his name. He is editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy and author of a widely used series of stargazing guides for beginners including The Monthly Sky Guide.

Ian was the 2012 winner of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific's Klumpke-Roberts Award for 'outstanding contributions to the public understanding and appreciation of astronomy'. He regularly travels to Norway to see the northern lights.

• Viewing through the historic telescopes (weather permitting)
• Viewing through smaller telescopes with amateur astronomy societies (weather permitting)
