Next Meeting of Wealden Astronomers is on Friday 27th July 2018

Wealden Astronomers meet at Herstmonceux Village Hall on the fourth Friday of every month.

We are now members of the Federation of Astronomical Societies and also have Public Liability Insurance.

Meeting Cancelled due to forecast thunderstorms

As you all know, our regular monthly Wealden meeting at the village hall this month on Friday 27th July is also the night of a lunar eclipse lasting most of the evening. As we shall probably not be able to view this event from the village hall, and with the long range weather looking favourable, we have decided to meet up on the beach opposite the free car park at Pevensey Bay.

As a result, there won't be a general meeting at the village hall this month but the committee will use the hall to hold a committee meeting prior to driving down to Pevensey Bay at around 8pm. If you are around just go straight to the beach please, not the hall. Hopefully, we'll enjoy a lovely evening on the beach viewing the lunar eclipse along with the string of planets currently visible in the night skies. The committee look forward to seeing you all on the beach. Members are obviously welcome to bring their telescopes to view the proceedings but please bear in mind that you'll need to carry them down the beach to set up, a distance of around 30 metres from the car park.

John. (Chair, Wealden Astronomers)
